January 15, 2009 by Tara Brabazon

Tara's Master of Letters was obtained from Central Queensland University in 1994. The degree was composed of four units and a dissertation.

The units Tara selected were:

Cultural Theory

Film Studies
Space, place and the built environment

These four modules were aligned into a thesis titled "In the shadow of her time: An evaluation of the words and vision of Derek Jarman as gendered sources for the Thatcher decade."

Two refereed articles resulted from this dissertation:

“At your own risk: Derek Jarman and the (semiotic) death of a film maker”, Social Semiotics, Vol. 3, 1993, pp. 183-200

“Reading Tilda: A Swinton guide through bodily textualization,” Social Semiotics, Vol. 4, 1994, pp. 9-30
